Learning
Object 2
LO-2
Demonstration of Ohm’s Law using MultiSim and Fathom
ohmslaw.swf Macromedia
Flash, 1.5MB, 800X600
Software used
Electronics Workbench MultiSim, Fathom, TechSmith Camtasia Studio (screen
capture, editing, sound recording)
Metatags
electronics, Electronic
Workbench MultiSim, simulation, analog circuit, virtual components, Ohms
Law, V=IR, battery, resistor, ohm, voltage, resistance, current, ground,
multimeter, voltmeter, ammeter
Considerations
Camtasia Studio proved ideally suited for piecing together clips and for
audio post recording while watching clips real time. Resulting AVI file
was 66MB, unusable for download, however, Flash export size of 1.5MB was
acceptable.
Further Work
Create similar captures showing circuit analysis procedures, develop Flash
allowing for filling in values interactively

Demonstrating
Ohms Law
 |
College
professors have stated students have problems with understanding the
manipulation of linear equations, such as Ohms Law (V=IR). Discussing
the problem with math teachers we decided that rote learning of equations
was not working, and that today’s students would be better served
by visualization of how V=IR works. The following LO uses Fathom,
a Ministry licensed program available to all schools in Ontario.
