LO-1
Demonstration of circuit building using MultiSim simulation software
Circuit01.swf
Macromedia Flash, 1024X768 1.3Mb
Software used
Electronics Workbench MultiSim, TechSmith Camtasia Studio (screen capture,
editing, sound recording)
Metatags
E lectronics, Electronic Workbench MultiSim, simulation, analog circuit,
virtual components, battery, resistor, voltage, resistance, current, ground,
multimeter, voltmeter, ammeter
Considerations
Screen resolution must be dropped down to 800X600 (optimum) or at least
1024X768 to capture clean image...most users will have at least 800X600
screens for playback, and capturing at higher resolutions and then reducing
results in artefacts and unreadable test images. Whole screen was used
since MultiSim could not be scaled. Attempts were made with ScreenFlash
software, but system would lock up or slow to a crawl. Camtasia worked
flawlessly. Resulting Flash files were reasonable size for downloading.
Further Work
Create similar captures illustrating other features of the software.

Using
Electronics Simulation Software
 |
Electronics
simulation software is used to design and test circuits before committing
to production. In the classroom, such software is important to teach
theoretical concepts and to provide a test bed for ideas before allocating
or wasting resources on unusable ideas. We are about to provide several
schools in a pilot project using Electronics Workbench MultiSim, a
worldwide industry standard software developed in Toronto Ontario.
This first LO illustrates how to develop and test analog circuits
using MultiSim. It is designed as first in a series illustrating basic
principles in using the software, for students and teachers of Communications
Technology, Computer Engineering, Physics and Mathematics.
