The
PASS Electronics Education Learning Object Repository Michael
Scott Purpose In order to build a strong foundation of knowledge and skills in electronics, we propose to build a network of educators and online resources to facilitate teaching and learning. Part of this endeavor is the concept of a database of “learning objects” (LOs) or self contained and re-usable learning resources. The files presented here are learning objects to test the concept and develop standard methods for further work. One of the areas in electronics identified as problematic by our college partners in the PASS project (Partnering to Articulate for Student Success) is student learning and retention of basic principles such as Ohm’s Law, which provides the basis of understanding analog circuit design. In addition, students new to electronics need to understand the basics of electrical and physical measurements and computer simulation of circuit designs. We hope the following sample LOs provide insight into the possibilities of learning objects in the teaching of electronics. Michael
